Report on a Visit to Levin/Brown and Associates, Inc.

Our visit to Levin/Brown and Associates, Inc., began when we reached the firm’s residential office in Owings Mills. The principal of the company introduced himself and started to guide us around his office. The principal informed us that he has been practicing architecture for the over forty years. During this time of practice, he had incorporated residential designs in his artistic works in the company. Additionally, he told us that the firm collaborates with its clients at the inception of every project. According to him, before starting the actual building work, the company analyzes, on behalf of its clients, the site constraints and opportunities and evaluates the artistic direction that the building should take. Also, the firm assists the clients in creating a workable building program that facilitates a better and faster construction process.

He told us that his first architectural project started during his undergraduate degree which took five years to complete. After joining the firm, he specialized in apartment design and construction. In addition to architectural designs of apartments, he focused on hospital-related projects up to 1986. After that, the firm expanded its scope and incorporated architectural plans for the religious building across various states. In total, the company has handled at least a hundred and fifty projects.

The last part of our tour was in the Temple Oheb Shalom in Baltimore. The principal took us to the building and showed us the renovations that he did on the building. The other aspect of the tour was the analysis of the staff in the company. The firm’s staff body is thin, consisting of eight architects, one civil engineer, one office manager, one interior designer, the principal’s wife handles accounting, billing, and finance. His daughter is also a part of the workforce. In overall, the visit was highly educative since if informed us of the architectural designs that are trending in the 21st Century.
