Attempting to understand and predict potential changes in Earth’s climate is extremely difficult, contentious, and an area of intense study. The political and social aspects of climate change add an additional layer to scientific findings, such that the way that research is presented can often be biased toward preconceived opinions. We will now examine and discuss recent articles regarding climate change and discuss both the science and the manner in which the article was presented. Complete the following activity: 1. Search reputable news sites for recent (within the last year) articles regarding climate change. Reputable new sites include major news outlets (recommended: http://www.sciencedaily.com/ or the science/environment page from any news website such as CNN, BBC, or others.) You should avoid purely opinion pieces or blog posts. Please answer and complete the following: o The citation for the story that you read (along with the url). o A 3-5 sentence summary of the main focus of the article. o A 3-5 sentence response to the article addressing: The validity of the science, the importance of the discovery, and the manner in which the discovery was presented.
